Excel offers programs all year long to keep children learning and thriving. The Fall 2013 After School Excel classes have been buzzing with activities for thirty six children. From First to Twelfth Grades, students are jumping into homework assignments, games, research, projects, and computer resources. Thanksgiving and Spring Break, kids are found gathering to enjoy books, arts and crafts, computers and board games.
After School Program
Excel’s after school program serves students in grades 1-12. It operates Monday through Friday on the public school schedule. Four sessions are offered per day between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The program assists children with homework, basic skills and computer learning while supporting them in the development of healthy self-esteem. Parents of after school program participants are expected to attend a monthly parent meeting and participate as classroom volunteers at least one session per month.
Summer Program
Excel’s summer enrichment is a 4-week program for elementary age students. It keeps students learning while on vacation from school while assuring their safety and involvement in creative pastimes. Learning activities include reading, math, computer, art, music, cooking, science and excursions.
Vacation Activities
Another learning opportunity for children during the school year is Excel’s school vacation activity program. During Thanksgiving, Christmas and spring breaks, students can participate in arts and crafts, computer classes and a host of other activities.
Catch Kids Clinic
This program for children up to 18 years of age from uninsured families. Although Catch Kids is not sponsored by Excel Commons, its clinic is located in Excel’s facilities.
